SERVE IN ALIEF ISD
In light of COVID-19, Alief ISD is asking churches to consider the following opportunities to continue caring for students during this time:
Provide space for students who do not have adult supervision during the day to come and do their online learning. Social distancing and safety protocols must be observed.
Donate reusable water bottles for students to use once we are able to return to in-person learning. (Dollar Tree and the 99 Cents Only stores are great options — water bottles can be ordered online!)
Thank you! Contact Dee Jones at 713-501-6596 with any questions. You can also contact us for assistance at [email protected].
SERVE THROUGH AN ESTABLISHED ORGANIZATION
Alief Coalition for the Homeless is working to bring an end to homelessness for the more than 1,600 homeless children who attend Alief ISD schools. This is a particularly difficult time for homeless students.
COMET is a collaborative project between 5Works, the Alief Independent School District, Alief Family YMCA, community churches and organizations, and area apartment complexes. Over 60% of Alief ISD students live in apartment complexes. In recognition of this, Alief ISD joined with several local nonprofits to develop an after-school program that helps with academic improvement, family involvement, and healthy living for both Alief students and their families.
Bee Busy Wellness Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center that offers health care for families, including Medical, Mental Health, and Dental Services.
