Church School Partnerships

“A church school partnership is a committed relationship between a church and a school in which both parties work together for the well-being and academic success of the students.” — Loving Houston

Public schools are asking for church partners!

The past several years have been very challenging for public schools. After a year of remote and hybrid learning in 2020, students are still lagging behind academically. Mental health challenges are on the rise, and families are struggling to provide food, clothing, and stable housing for their children. For teachers and school administrators who were already overburdened and under-resourced, these additional factors are making their work even more challenging than ever before. This is why schools are asking us for church partners!

School leaders are looking for adult role models and reading buddies for their students. They want to make sure their families have enough food to eat and warm clothes for the winter. They need resources and support for their teachers who are educating our future leaders.

No matter how big or small your church is, you can make a difference in the lives of students in your local school — now and for eternity!

How to Become a Loving Houston Church Partner:

  1. Attend a 101 Workshop. We’ll train you and your team on everything you need to know to start a church school partnership, e.g., core values, legal guidelines, partnership ideas, and first steps.
  2. Develop a plan. We’ll set up a meeting with a school near you and guide you as you get to know each other, set goals, establish boundaries, and create a customized plan for your partnership.
  3. Start making an impact. We’ll walk with you, sharing ideas and best practices to help you serve in meaningful ways as you build relationships with children, teachers, and families.
