Humble ISD Hurricane Harvey FAQs

School-Related Needs :: Community Needs

  • Humble ISD serves 40,549 students
  • 34% or 13,714 of those students are from low income families and receive free or reduced lunches
  • 44.27% or 17,950 of those students are at risk of not completing high school

There are multiple ways for volunteers to serve these students. Finding volunteers to read with students is a big priority for Humble ISD elementary schools. For Humble ISD middle schools and high schools, the biggest priority is finding volunteers who can assist with homework and build mentoring relationships with students. Male mentors are especially needed!*

Churches are also encouraged to form partnerships with their local schools, with volunteers serving in any of the previous capacities and/or with donations and financial support.

* Mentors must complete a background check through the district. Humble ISD will also provide mentor training as needed.
